Sketch
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 4:29PM I often feel that the sketch that I do, to start a new piece should be hung beside the final piece. Because you are not so worried about being precise, you get a very different feel. Here is the sketch for my most recent project. We’ll see how it compares to the final version!

Where The Wild Things Are
Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:39AM I had been meaning to post something about Maurice Sendak’s “Where The Wild Things Are” for awhile now. When our son was born we went to the bookstore and excitedly bought up a bunch of books. This was the first in our hands. It’s a classic with illustration that is unforgettable.

Now it has been made into a movie. Which I am a little nervous about. I am not sure how it will translate… but the trailer is good!

Jon Klassen
Monday, March 16, 2009 at 4:48PM I saw a commercial for Royal Bank awhile ago and was really impressed by the illustration/animation. Only recently did I come across the creative eye (Annai) of said animation. Jon Klassen.

UPPERCASE - Magazine Update
Monday, March 16, 2009 at 4:38PM Apparently I am close to getting my first issue! Can’t wait to get it in my grubby little hands. I will probably make a ritual out of it. Ya know.. bubble bath. Glass of wine. A good cry. Then.. a flip through to see all the great creativity glued together by Janine’s discerning eye!
Nearly done! from UPPERCASE gallery on Vimeo.
Masters & Heroes - Jeff Soto
Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 11:04PM Every once in awhile you come across someones artwork that is so imaginative that it makes you feel like a stuffed-up biddy. Jeff Soto is one of those people. Normally I would claim he cheats by using hallucinogenic drugs. But he is just plain good. I gotta just accept it.

Just so happens Juxtapoz posted a time lapse vid of his work today. Very cool.
James Jean
Monday, February 16, 2009 at 8:55PM I had meant to comment on James Jean’s work awhile ago but life got in the way and I dropped the ball. His show(“Kindling”) at Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York is now over. His work is definately worth a look though.
